A Little Goes A Long Way...

Before a mix is ready for release or incorporation in an album, it has to be fine polished.  This is what mastering is all about.  Small, yet vital EQ enhancements to give the mix more presence.  The next step involves the use of subtle compression (or extreme, choose your genre), and multi-band peak limiters and dither; the detail near the least-significant bit is still significant. For the web, the issue of dynamics is vital.  Without this critical step, your mix will be lost to the attention of the listener.
